BUILDING PEACE

Margaret's Germain Bio

Margaret

Host of Building Peace, Margaret Germain

Margaret grew up in the birthplace of our nation, Lexington, Mass, but has called Florida home for over 30 years. She is a professional musician, former Sarasota public school music teacher and currently is Music Director at a Sarasota church, piano teacher, and free lance harpist.  She has been a peace activist and environmentalist since the early days of peace marches on Lexington Green.  Margaret has also been involved in Interfaith programs and organizations, as part of promoting peaceful understanding.

Building Peace promotes the philosophy that peace is something that happens at the individual and local level. Peace begins with expanding our understanding of other people and cultures and beliefs so that we learn to respect and accept others as part of our extended human family, and care for and respect our environment. Margaret interviews guests who are involved in some aspect of promoting peace, justice, and understanding on a local level, including organization leaders, authors, professors, environmentalists, religious and spiritual leaders, mediators,  and even peaceful musicians.
