Loving the Radio Station
One thing I must be clear on, I love this radio station and its volunteers. It has added joy to my life. I believe in it’s mission “Building Community through Open Communication”. I see the fulfillment and need within the area community from Venice to Punta Gorda over to Englewood. I’ve already learned so much that I, in a million years, would have never believed or intended I would learn, especially at this stage of my game…you know the game..LIFE. Many people know me as the lady that wears so many different hats. It is true. I wear many hats, real and the other kind. I’m really involved in community from Punta Gorda to North Port and everything in between. Blah blah, blah. But now as I look back I wonder what was RJ Malloy and Gale West thinking when they first started to recruit me in 2012. I didn’t come on board till Dec 2015. Have you heard my voice?? Who wants to listen to that? But then I realize that I have met many interesting people on my journey through life….and it’s about them…not me. It is about my passions. I’ve been given a platform to share those passions hoping in a small way that I can enrich, open up opportunities and give a voice to those that may not have a voice. I’ve always been called the Barbara Walters of my family or the inquisitive one by my fellow leadership peeps. I’ve always been curious, which has gotten me into trouble a few times in life. Sure, I’m a believer and support all the other causes, both monetarily and by volunteerism, but in my heart I have a burning desire for the things that bring joy or curiosity to most. I have met the most amazing volunteers and people/guests. Not one person is paid at the radio station. Insane as it may seem, I’ve seen better quality volunteers from admin to tech to show hosts than better than many I have managed through out the years in business. Those with hidden talents that I don’t even think they knew they had. I know I have found home.
